I am a storyteller and a writer specialising in developing stories and speaking & listening activities in the Primary and Secondary classroom. If you want to book me for your school you can reach me at thestoryteller@talktalk.net
I have set this website up as an index and a 'one-stop shop' for parents, childminders, teachers and education professionals in order to give the best and most direct and ordered access to the wide variety of DVDs that I have placed on YOU TUBE. I know that some schools and LEAs have a block on YOU TUBE, so these can be viewed at home and learned and related. Can I just point out that all of the videos are available to be bought as collections on DVD.
My other sites www.tonywilsonstoryteller.co.uk and www.tonywilson.co.uk provide you with a detailed breakdown and detailed information regarding the background and content of what I actually do when I visit a school, College or University. The emphasis of this site is to give direct access to grouped, topic-based and themed stories that I have created over the past 10 years.
If you want to get a flavour of what I actually do in the classroom go to
The videos have been arranged and categorised by age-suitability and then grouped by topic.
The Key Stages have been the first part of the selection with;
E.Y.F.S. Early Years Foundation Stage Pre-school/ Childminders
F.S. Foundation Stage Nursery and Reception for children to age 5
K.S. 1 Key Stage 1 Primary School "Infants" Children aged 5-7
K.S. 2 Key Stage 2 Primary School "Juniors" aged 7-11
K.S. 3+ Key Stage 3+ Secondary School "Seniors" aged 11 + to adult
Other headings include; Art, Technology, Music and INSET.
In each Key Stage I have tried to place the videos in logical groupings relating to their content which have been arranged in alphabetical order.
So, if you wanted a story about The Great Fire of London suitable for children aged 7 and above, you would select Key Stage 2 and then scroll down the alphabetical list to find the stories under the 'Great Fire of London' heading.

In brief, you should know the following about me:
I was born and raised in the Northeast of England and I graduated from Leeds University in 1977 in Agricultural Zoology.
After having been a professional musician and songwriter from 1977 to 1988 I became a Primary teacher in 1989 and taught for seven years. In that time I worked in both the Foundation stages and Key Stages 1 & 2.
I lectured in Social & Emotional development, Curriculum Science, Classroom management and Communications at F.E. and H.E. Colleges in the Northeast for 3 years.
I became a full-time storyteller and writer in 1999 and have been responsible for providing speaking & listening and writing workshops ever since. I have travelled throughout the whole of the British Isles and have worked in Secondary schools as well as in Colleges and Universities.
Since 2010 I have toured extensively in South America, working with all age groups from Pre-kinder to College Students. Having been to Chile, Argentina and Brasil I also have tours of Colombia and Peru planned in 2012.
As well as working as a freelance storyteller, I have been employed by Creative Partnerships, The Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle, Arts for Kids, The Prince's Trust, The TES, Groundworks, Education Business Partnerships, SPLATT (Sharing, playing laughing and talking together), RaW, Surestart, ncma and The Northeast Museums Hub.
My speciality is in the area of encouraging children and teaching professionals to use their imagination and develop and direct speaking & listening activities that produce relevant, related and curriculum, topic-based stories. I use the current areas of study to produce a collection of age-related, 'bespoke' stories that I can record on DVD or CD and deliver to the school as a means of reinforcement through repeated viewing and listening. This also gives ownership and relevance to the children's ideas and contributions and can focus and prolong the activity to a satisfactory conclusion. I have produced over 20 CD and DVD collections of themed stories ranging from "The house that Jack and Jill built" (Pre-school stories and songs), Mining in the Northeast, The artist John Martin, The Brothers Grimm, Shipwrecks, "Writing for a Porpoise" (Creative writing songs) and a collection of Christmas stories.
